Coloratura soprano Camille Labonté (she/her) is an active young performer, music educator, and choral conductor based in Toronto, Canada.

A versatile artist, Camille enjoys performing a variety of repertoire including opera, art song, and musical theatre. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in opera performance at the University of Toronto, where last season she sang the roles of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Cathleen in Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea, Briseis in Lennox Berkeley’s Castaway, and Anna Massey in the world premiere of Avenue of Avarice. Other operatic credits include Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Frasquita (Carmen), and Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea).  Recent concert appearances include soprano solos in Considering Matthew Shepard and Handel’s Messiah, as well as hosting and co-curating Pax Christi Chorale’s 2024 performance of Children’s Messiah.

Equally passionate about choral music, Camille is currently entering her 6th season with the Mississauga Children’s Choir,  where she conducts the Training Choir, and in 2024, directed the children’s chorus for Puccini’s Tosca in collaboration with the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra. Camille has sung countless premieres of new Canadian choral works, including as the soprano soloist in the world premiere of Erik Kreem’s Shear Modulus with Modern Sound Collective’s chamber choir, Concreamus.

Camille’s 2025/26 season will include performances as Daria in Donizetti’s Viva la Mamma! and Lucia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia (UofT Opera), soprano solos in Carmina Burana (Stratford Summer Music) and Messiah (York Chamber Ensemble), as well as workshopping new operatic compositions by Canadian composers Cecilia Livingston and Danika Lorèn, and performing in the world premiere of With the telling comes the magic, a new opera with libretto by Michael Patrick Albano.
